Pros
Automatic 30 days of paid vacation your first year. Everyone starts at the same level. Huge sense of family. Lot's of different incentive pays. Pays not bad, especially near the end of a military career. Free training and lots of it. You will get to see how the rest of the world lives. More time off after returning from deployments; often, two or more weeks. Lots of paid government holidays. Let me say, I've also deployed with the other branches of service and the AF has the best standard of living, bar none.
Cons
First off, it's tough to get accepted. After you are accepted, you will be competing against peers with a very similar intellect to yours, making promotion testing difficult at best. Lastly, with regard to promotions, it is a one mistake Air Force; the most deserving will be promoted first. OIhter cons are: 1. Deployments with 12 hour days that turn into 18 hour days, 7 days a week. 2. The special days you'll miss: holidays/anniversay celebrations/graduations/family reunions/etc. 3. Slow promotions...
