Pros
Adventure, Part of a team, travel, Doing something for the greater good. Being able to say you are in something, for example when someone asks who do you work for I say I am in the Air Force. Does delta do this. Meeting, and being the hero's that books are written about.
Cons
Leaving your family, the good things are getting further and further apart, Advancement stalls. Sometimes heros are killed, brothers and sisters move, your wife leaves you, and your kids forget your name. When things go wrong or someone screws you, you cannot thrash them, hell you can't even yell or curse anymore.
