A Culture of Hierarchy, Favoritism and Willful Ignorance - Treasury Assistant United Nations Employee Review

Pros

- Interacting with colleagues from across the globe. - Accumulation of leave days per month.

Cons

The nature of the organization fosters willful ignorance of problems and issues within a unit until problems reach a fever pitch and boil over. Even when this moment is reached a band-aid is put over the problem and it is never truly resolved. You also run into instances of those who talk the most and complain the loudest being the ones who don't pull their weight in any regard. Favoritism is ingrained in every moment you are in the building and the culture of hierarchy that exists means that the lower you exist on the ladder you will be treated as such. Finally for an organization that consists of staff from all corners of the world and all walks of life discrimination within the workplace is unfortunately a regular occurrence.

Pros

Great multicultural environment with people from all over the world, which creates a very enriching and inclusive atmosphere. Everyone is punctual and colleagues are very chill and easy to work with. The diversity of backgrounds makes collaboration genuinely enjoyable.

Cons

Very resistant to change and innovation. The organization tends to stick to old processes and is reluctant to adopt new technologies or modern approaches. Progress and improvements move extremely slowly, which can be frustrating for those looking to make an impact. its also unpaid which sucks
