Certain members of upper middle management have been promoted to positions that they are in no way qualified by experience for. The unfortunate attitude of theirs is therefore focused on appearing to be "friends" with every member of staff, rather than dealing with office politics, departmental issues and and staff upset in a professional and mature way. This is instead dealt with bu causing confusion, gossiping and running back and forth between parties playing both sides, all at the expense of the Team Leaders and the credit controllers, who are as such constantly undermined, used as scape goats and heavily criticised behind their backs. The job of Team Leader, therefore becomes untenable and you spend most of your time in and out of meetings, listening to your team members being slagged off or alternatively being blamed, accused and hauled over the coals for issues your manager has in fact created, because they are incapable of stepping back. Micro management at it's best and not at all surprising once you're in the mix, as when you're in a role you know you shouldn't be and have Team Leaders who are far more qualified and experienced than you, this is unfortunately the way most people deal with their obvious inadequacies as a manager. I would therefore most definitely not recommend working in the Credit Control Dept of this business, unless the Credit Manager changes.
