Pros

good benefits, great place to meet new friends. Paid maternity leave with a really great 'phase-back' program. Lots of departments, therefore there is room to move up, and they typically prefer to promote from within.

Cons

In rental, you are expected to work 50+ hours/week and get paid in peanuts. You're lucky to have two days off a week. In claims department, you are expected to do 50+ hours of work in 40 hours so they don't have to pay you overtime. No bonuses EVER. They say that they 'pay competitive salaries' which is completely false- they pay significantly less than similar positions at other companies.

Pros

Pay was okay starting out. It was better when I got moved to assistant manager. Was capped out on commission so just had to increase fleet, sales, and flip (pulling cars for deletion). Benefits are great- discounts on rentals, medical, dental, vision, life etc, bonuses for employee referrals, and other seasonal incentive programs. Coworkers- by far this is the greatest part of this career. My coworkers were amazing. The former area manager was only there two weeks then was replaced by the best manager I have ever had. Had several branch managers, most were okay. Admin team was great. Had a very goal driven RVP who you could personally call at anytime for advice. My favorite part was that everyone who was at Admin office, came through rental and could talk about it like it was yesterday. They were very real and upfront with you on everything, including washing cars in a suit.

Cons

Hated working at Geico ARX shop for the four months I was there. There is a difference in washing a car and making a brand new one appear out of thin air. Geico people aren't paid enough and you can tell. The guy at geico that could literally tell my area manager how high to jump probably didn't make half of his salary. Esqi is a joke. You would literally have to offer one of your ceiling tiles to make a customers happy. You might as well start saying, how much of this rental would you like me to take off to make you appear completely satisfied??? If you screw up or think you have screwed up, write the whole story down because the ethics committee will blindside you three weeks after the fact and ask you every detail of that transaction at 8AM. And if you don't remember a certain detail, you just lied to them and you're fired.

Pros

I can't think of many. I was lucky to work with some awesome people, they were the only saving grace of the job.

Cons

Terrible pay and no work life balance, not only are you working 60 hour weeks, usually with no lunch break but on top of that there are several out of work events you must attend. Astoundingly AWFUL upper management, not only will they throw you under the bus for anything and everything that could possibly go wrong, but when you perform well and make goals they do nothing to convey appreciation, let alone even a "good job". Getting hit on, harassed, or threatened with physical violence by customers occurs almost daily and you have to tiptoe the situation because because you are graded on your customer service, not knowing who might get a service call. My last straw was when I went on vacation (a real rarity at ERAC and the only one of my 4 years with them) and I got written up for my performance when I returned, the date's mentioned in the memo referenced the days I was on vacation. This job will literally suck the life and happiness from you.
