Good Experience for people new to the workforce
Pros
Management trainee program is very good. Training program gives you a very good base to manage a business. People you work with are mainly like-minded and are a lot of fun considering you will be spending 10 hours a day together. Once you reach Branch Manager, you receive a company car.
Cons
Work/Life balance is non existent, you will be expected to work 50 hour a week minimum and closer to 65 a week during the summer months. Great when you are young and fresh out of school as while you work towards a management position you get paid by the hour. Unfortunately, once you get older and have a family, you are forced to choose between your job and your wife and kids. And if you choose your family, you will get pushed out on one of the many technicalities that head office can draw from to terminate your employment. The in house politics that goes on is rampant in this company. If you are a fan of all the cliques you dealt with in high school then this is the job for you. People talk constantly behind others backs. The spreading of rumors is prominent which poses issues as reputation is key for your advancement at Enterprise. Once you reach the management level, you can expect to be put under extreme pressure on a consistent basis. You are expected to run a smooth operation but due to under staffing, there is never enough bodies to effectively run your store. If you are lucky enough to eventually fully staff your store, your employees will get promoted to other locations and you will be left to start from scratch until you are unable to continue the balancing act and are let go. Scare tactics is head offices most used approach to get results if you are faltering, and if you reach out for assistance they pick and choose who they help. My recommendation if you choose to work here is to go through the hoops till you get to manager, then get let go so they buy you out as the job market is always greener on the other side.
