Pros

I started with Enterprise as an intern in February 2012, went full time as a Management Trainee in that summer after my graduation, eventually got promoted to a major airport in May of 2013 and put in my two weeks in September 2013. Enterprise is a great first job. It transforms you from a nervous recent graduate to a responsible adult. The job exposes you to client/vendor relationships, travel arrangements, marketing, managing accounts receivable, administrative efforts and sales. You work as a team with your co-workers who more than likely are recent graduates themselves. The products are easy to understand and selling them is not difficult. If you sell well you will get promoted quickly and make great money- if you cannot sell well (like me) the managers help you and train you to do better or will focus you more towards marketing efforts and back-end administrative work. The general Enterprise employee is very approachable and easy to get along with- they hire mainly based on your ability to speak clearly and enthusiastically. The initial pay is not bad for a recent graduate (around $14 an hour in most regions) and the career path clear-cut. After a year you will usually receive at least one promotion as well. Overall, great people, collaborative environment and exposure to many skills required in the business world.

Cons

Long hours, suit and tie (bit much), no facial-hair policy, no commission, etc. These issues are not overwheming. Pay your dues as a recent grad and this company will either eventually truly reward you or give you the experience for your resume to land the job you want that requires those minimum of x years experience.

Not worth it

Pros

Very young work environment. Most co-workers will be fresh out of college. I made many friends here and had a lot of fun at after-work happy hours. All the opportunity in the world to advance, provided you want to stay with the company. Good dental. "Flex" days, so you can leave a little early one day a week. Job security -- they will fire you if your sales numbers are bad, but they need to be very bad, and bad for a long time before you'll even be put on probation. They offer 401k and match 3%.

Cons

Really rough job. Expect to spend most of your day outside in the rain, snow, freezing cold, heat, etc. If it snows, you'll be shoveling cars out all day. Expect to clean many cars in a suit, every day. The dress code is a bit ridiculous for the work you're doing, and they're pretty strict about it. The pay is very poor considering the number of hours you'll be working (minimum 10 hour days, some days up to 14). You'll be expected to work weekends. Depending on the type of location you're working in, you may also work nights and holidays. The health benefits are poor and they only give you 7 paid days off during your first year, which is less than most companies give. Although there are plenty of career opportunities within daily rental, there are barely any in the corporate office, so unless you're okay with working in the daily rental environment for the rest of your career (which I'm sure you don't), you can't really go anywhere. Expect to pick up customers/drive them home. It's extremely awkward and actually kind of dangerous. Customers treat you like crap and don't realize that you need a college degree to work as an MT and that you actually ARE a smart, educated individual. Working at Enterprise is essentially working retail, so if you wouldn't work in a retail environment, this is not for you. Managers play favorites BIG TIME and you'll see people (mainly kiss-asses) get promoted that don't deserve it. Enterprise DOES expect that your job becomes your life -- they expect the world from you. I am NOT a lazy person and have worked my whole life. I've worked long hours, OT, jumped through hoops at other jobs, etc. I just want people to know what they're getting themselves into with Enterprise. It is not a bad company, but it is also not for everyone, and had I known what it would be like before taking the job, I never would have. It simply is not worth the pay.

Pros

-young & fun people (for the most part) -occasional happy hour -you get to drive the latest honda civic, ford focus, and if you're lucky....a fiat! -You get to laugh every time someone brings up the scene from Step Brothers "I'm gonna do what's sensible. File for unemployment, and then try to get a job at Enterprise Rent A Car. Because they have an excellent corporate structure, and they give you the tools to be your own boss!" TRUTH: You should just file for unemployment because it will be about the same money as you will make from this job.

Cons

-The pay is terrible! Your friends who can't find a job out of college and are working part-time gigs (bartender, baby sitter, dog walker, street sweeper) will all make more than you. Just keep drinking every night after work, and tell yourself it will get better (IT WON'T) -Those happy hours I talked about earlier consist of you going out and listening to other employees getting off on talking about their sales power #'s, how bad they screwed over this one customer, and all the neat cars they drove today! Like I said, just keep drinking! -Washing cars in a shirt & tie is pretty fun -Driving customers home (no tip necessary because they think you make decent money. HA!) -Everything lives and dies on your ESQI scores which consist of calling about 5% of the customers that you have to see if they were completely satisfied(great selection huh). -No matter how good you're selling or how good your ESQI is, it's never good enough -"Our employees are our #1 asset!" Yes, you will be a slave and the reason for this company thriving. However, don't expect to be treated like you are the "#1 asset"
