Pros

The best parts of working at Epic include the financial compensation, benefits (especially healthcare), and food from the cafeterias. Compensation is inflated to other companies in the area to attract young talent.

Cons

There is a lot of young talent at Epic. This immaturity bleeds into the culture in a variety of ways. Confidential information that should have only been exchanged between myself and my team lead was common knowledge to a much larger pool of my peers. As an implementation project manager, I expected to travel for ~50% of my time. I quickly began to travel ~75% of my time and not just during the work week. At the extreme, I flew across the country on Sunday nights, worked onsite Mon-Fri, and then flew home late Friday night for ~2 months straight. This is very common for someone in this role.

Pros

Iron sharpens Iron, so you'll probably leave Epic with very high abilities to be a hard working, accountable, and organized employee.

Cons

Work/Life balance. Be prepared to work 60-80 hours each week, every week, with no overtime pay. There is no way to fight for a better work life balance and Epic won't listen to your personal problems because enough of your peers will be willing to put in the work. The pay could be considered decent for 40 hours per week. There is a reason the average tenure for implementation services employees is a year and a half; it doesn't make sense to stay.
