Pros

The work you do matters, peoples lives depend on the code you write. You work with many smart people and everyone really pulls together to make sure we release the best software we can.

Cons

Due to the high stakes, it can sometimes be a lot of work to make sure everything is safe.

Pros

The company culture is extremely collaborative, and anyone will jump in on an issue regardless of whether it is in their area. Most team leads are actively working to let their team members succeed and move toward the right area for them.

Cons

Consistent after-hours maintenance will affect the work-life balance. This is getting better with more after-hours staff, but is still the reality for most admins. You may be staffed to several customers depending on current needs, and the workload / ability to explore internal projects is heavily dependent on this.
