Pros

The pay v cost of living split is incredible. You’re able to make a lot of money for a 22, 23, 24 year old. Depending on your project, you may work with smart and fun people (sometimes not).

Cons

The commute back and forth is an hour and a half. You’re expected to work about 50-70 hours a week depending on your situation. Biggest con is that you’re doing healthcare IT in Madison, WI. Where can you go from there? There’s no one to network with here, there are no obvious exit opportunities that are attractive.

Pros

Great pay. Fun coworkers. Truly talented and hard-working colleagues. Awesome opportunity straight out of college

Cons

Epic will squeeze employees like a 🍋 to take them for all they can offer. They know exactly the opportunity they give young people and have no hesitation to operate in an entirely quid pro quo, kick you the curb as soon as you're too expensive mentality. You are replaceable. While grateful for the opportunity they offer (valuable knowledge, incredible experience, international travel), they care about very few people. There's a cheap new college graduate they think they can plug in. They treat anyone that goes abroad like 💩. You get your pay docked for the chance to move abroad. International preparation, resources and growth opportunities are virtually non-existent. And then the international employees are second class citizens, with worse benefits on every front. It's unclear why all this is necessary. It's otherwise a truly special company that values teaching people the right knowledge. They just happen to like working and treating their employees like dogs (and not good dogs 🐕🐕)

Pros

I've been here for 10+ years now. As my life and career goals changed over time, Epic has been flexible and helped me move positions in the company. I've had the opportunity to travel all around the US and the ability to stay local when my child was born. Epic hires smart and creative staff, its always a pleasure to work with my peers. Epic will also give you opportunities to make major impacts early on. I've seen 1-2 tenure staff running company wide initiative that have resulted in lifesaving benefits to our customers. Other pros: Competitive pay Creative atmosphere Ability to have an impact quickly Flexible positions Great food Gives your the opportunity to work with organizations that save lives and improve community health.

Cons

Some travel roles are heavily designed for people who are self sufficient and don't need much oversight.
