A very mixed bag

Pros

- Good food. - Fun campus. - Many of the co-workers I've met have truly been wonderful to work with and learn from. - Self-driven to a degree.

Cons

- All that flat management structure and private ownership mean is that it concentrates power even more in the hands of a select, out-of-touch few. - Ancient coding languages used - Cult-like culture that emphasizes secrecy and often dishonesty. They try to be nerdy and "fun" but it just rings hollow. - Endless distractions, running from issue to issue while trying to juggle an increasing load of internal work. - Work-life balance? More like work-life integration. - Located in a city filled with other Epic employees with endless, frigid winters.

Pros

Lots of people working for this company are complacent about the pay, and convince themselves that this is a decent company. But, you'll later find out there are more cons at Epic than any pros.

Cons

You're treated poorly and a lot of people leave the company early. The pay isn't even competitive. Google for the class action lawsuit against Epic. There are NO transferable skills - can't find a good job anywhere. Management is very irresponsible - I'm not sure they know what goes on in their own company. They're also very conservative and stingy with things like raises.

Pros

It’s challenging and rewarding. And there are many opportunities to find a niche and pursue projects which you enjoy. You work closely with developers and have a great deal of influence starting with the design of the software and ending when it is released to our clients. If you see opportunities to improve processes or business operations, people are open to them and you are given a chance to work on implementing your idea. You will work with outstanding people.

Cons

It can be challenging to stay current on how the software is changing, which impacts what you decide to test, and there are times where multiple urgent projects come up. Having a good team leader who can help redistribute projects or renegotiate deadlines makes a big difference.
