Pros

You're given a lot of responsibility right out of college. The company compensates you well for a first job with little or no experience in healthcare.

Cons

Epic is one of the only large companies in Madison. If you don't like your job and want to stay in tech, you're going to need to move to another city. Relocation isn't fully paid back until you finish two years at the company. The perks of working at the company aren't that great when compared to other tech companies (any company in Silicon Valley). You get free juice and popcorn. The lunch is good (not free), but if you work in a building far from the cafeteria taking time to eat there really isn't an option. The developers at the company aren't great. The company programs in MUMPS and a large portion of the developers come from mediocre schools or are brought in from abroad.

Pros

If you get a lot of satisfaction from solving problems and finding the best answer to complicated issues, you'll have fun here. The dress requirements are minimal, and the food is amazing. The average age of an employee is in their mid-20s, so there's a potentially wide dating pool available for you. The benefits are pretty good - the dental is really great.

Cons

You will be working a LOT. They tell you to expect 45-50 hours each week - in practice, that's a minimum. In addition, who you get as your immediate supervisor (team lead) is everything. If you get one that has some actual managerial experience and listens to their team, wonderful. If you don't...you can always try to switch to a different one. I'm not sure how difficult that is, though.
