Pros

Smart people to work with. It was difficult to adjust in the beginning, but once I knew what I was doing, things got easier. I've been lucky since the team I'm on uses C# and not VB.

Cons

My biggest gripe with Epic is that it is in Madison. It is not the place to be for a young single person, especially if you are a minority.

Pros

The culture is awesome. Fun feel - great food, no dress code, awesomely smart people, you're a part of this larger whole that does amazing things in the industry. Amazing pay, right out of college and through the years. This job has taught me more about myself than I ever had hoped to know - strengths, weaknesses, resilience, mental capacity. I learned how to do amazing things, have tons of ownership and accountability, and I also learned how to say "no" and focus down on my personal goals (it took me about 2 years to get there and feel completely empowered).

Cons

You need to figure out what you want out of your time here. Your first year or two can be extremely challenging, but for me, the rewards were high. Now that I've been here for 5+ years, I take control of my schedule, my work life boundaries, and I'm empowered to do what is right for my customers, the company, and me.

Pros

The people you work with are amazing. The work is interesting and is focused on doing good in the world. The campus is awesome, with great food, private or two people offices, and awesome managers. The pay is good. It may not seem great for the work at first, but if you do well you can get large raises (my second raise was nearly 30% - not to be expected but possible if you get very involved - and my other raises were very generous)

Cons

You will work hard. This is a company where they push you, and they'll keep giving you things until you feel like you're about to crack. There's too much to do for the number of people they have, so they'll try to get you do to as much as you can. With that said, it's not a problem to just say no. Many people don't realize that, but saying no to an opportunity is perfectly fine, and you should wait until the perfect opportunity arises and then jump on it. Don't be afraid to tell your manager you're overloaded. They can and should help, and if they don't, go to their manager.
