Pros

There are all kinds of folks on campus, particularly as the campus continues to grow. Out of all of these people though, pretty much everyone you meet will be super nice and happy to help out. This varies by experience, but in general, the people are great.

Cons

There is not a hard and fast rule for what you can take on, and especially depending on your team's size, you may find yourself taking on more work than you anticipated. It can be hard to say no because you want to help out or value the work, so you need to learn how to recognize when you're at capacity for productive work and communicate clearly and firmly when you're there.

Pros

Great experience for future career in healthcare - very helpful in other companies in industry and is well respected. Truly impressive and effective training program. Impressive standards of organization, training, and established processes. (When you leave - you will be disappointed in the lack of training/organization/standard processes that you will encounter in future companies.) Decent compensation for location, however not as great when compared to other tech companies. Travel benefits. Good culture, but sometimes can be overbearing. (comparable to some universities)

Cons

You have to live in Wisconsin. Long hours, high stress. Limited career mobility within the company (however - it is very helpful for finding healthcare roles outside Epic). A lot of pressure from middle management, e.g., people in your same role that have slightly more tenure. A lot of bureaucracy and sometimes unnecessary processes that take needed focus time away. Raises are based on a curve, i.e., it is based on your peers and a subjective review from your Team Lead. Team lead has too much impact on your career path, and your experience at the company WILL BE highly dependent on your assigned Team Lead.
