Pros

Pay and most benefits are generous. The work is challenging and generally fulfilling. Most co-workers are smart and competent. There are a lot of opportunities to make a positive impact.

Cons

Hiring new staff does not keep pace with the amount of work and departures. They discourage staff from providing recommendations on former staff. Many are promoted into management who are not skilled enough, or they are not provided enough support. Working from home is essentially not permitted, or restricted in ways that are not practical. The company's response to covid-19 was very poor--it was very late to keep people out of the office, and then tried to bring staff back several months before vaccines were available in July 2020, and the company lied to public health officials about what "working remotely" meant. Other public responses about staff diversity strained credulity.

Pros

You can feel happy when you see the campus on the inside, ornate buildings and supportive people.

Cons

I don't know where to start, there's a blame game going on where if you have a TL who doesn't like you, he will go all over the place blaming you for everything, regardless if it's really your fault. After I put in honestly large hours getting my responsibilities to work, I don't feel the satisfaction and accomplishment I would expect myself to feel if upper management was actually realistic with their expectations.

Pros

You’ll work with some very smart people and sometimes your work will be meaningful. You’ll meet some very nice people.

Cons

Upper management is making the year feel like 1984. Spouting coding principles as hills to die on. “Once decided, support” should not apply to BLM or covid response emails. Also they tell us to withhold info about our tenure from our customers in order to build trust. Working 45+ hours is considered fairly normal and won’t make you stand out as a high performer. Your primary job is to support your customers but as long as they aren’t complaining, you’re judged more on your internal work. A lot of your favorite coworkers will leave within 2 years. You’ll work hard and be praised during a pandemic response and then be told you’re lucky to have a job and raises will be small. Oh but by the way we have the money to convert large single offices into two small offices so you can come back into work even if you don’t feel safe.
