Pros

Good work life balance Good people Nice HQ

Cons

The technology is antiquated and hard to change Not quick or agile enough - there's too much process and innovation gets bogged down in endless cycles of reviews. In general, the software development practices are outdated and need updating. This is in part because of ancient technology that is hard to work with and fragile.

Pros

Top product and ability to invest; global locations; bright people from very diverse backgrounds. Reasonably good corporate culture and fairly decent performing equity.

Cons

Recent leadership has often taken short term investor focused decisions, as opposed to employee or customer centric decisions and this has upset morale.

Great Place for Work/Life Balance

Pros

Expedia values its employees, and it shows. I am given a task, and I can run with it because my manager trusts me to do a great job. I can leave for an appointment when I need to, work from home when I'm sick, and I never feel pressured not to take vacation time. I am happy to work at Expedia, and I am proud of the work I do.

Cons

Like any company, there are plenty of office politics that can get in the way here. With so many different people coming and going from work groups, re-orgs, etc., the dynamics of groups working together can sometimes be challenging when a few people have ulterior motives. Overall, it's certainly not a huge roadblock.
