Pros

Travel is a great industry to work in and doing so has its benefits. Expedia is full of smart and driven people that want to work hard to make Expedia succeed, most people are very passionate about the work they do and take pride in what they deliver. There is a great sense of care and comraderie between employees. The culture for the most part is very open in that people are encouraged to be vocal, be themselves, and bring their ideas to the table. Expedia tries hard to take care of thier employees in terms of benefits and have career tracks for people that do not want to go into management.

Cons

Due to hiring and staffing freezes and weak ability to priority projects, not enough is done when people are being overworked. While you don't hear (often) of people being told they cannot take vacation, there is always way too much work to do that it doesn't lend while to work life balance at times. Much of the Senior Management at Expedia is relatively new and don't understand the Expedia culture, this has created more of a "political" environment that there used to be and unfortunately, less focus and care for the inidividual (though they are trying to make that a priority in places)

Pros

You become a travel agent with access to great travel deals. It is still the market mover in terms of online travel and quickly becoming a major force in all of travel.

Cons

The Factoria location in Bellevue is a nightmare to get to and from from Seattle - and it is basically a cultural wasteland once you are there. Only easily walkable options at lunch is the on-campus cafeteria. It has lost a ton of talent from the early days -- not only top management, but senior mid-level people who really made the place hum and had the institutional knowledge.

Pros

Expedia is far and away the most supportive of a work/life balance out of all of my friends' employers. When I have been upset, my managers have gone to bat for me. When I need to say something to upper management or people in distant organizations, I am empowered to do so. When I have wanted time off, I have been granted it. When I have asked for projects fitting certain criteria, I have been given them. When I have considered leaving, or been given offers elsewhere, my managers have asked me to stay and have worked with me to ensure my happiness. We work in a space that is interesting and relevant to me, in a company that isn't as huge as MS, Yahoo, Google, etc, but is not victim to the risks or lack of resources that a startup experiences.

Cons

All companies have issues. It seems like there are some vocal people who are disaffected with the spirit, pay, freedom, and support in the company, but I suspect they won't find much better elsewhere. Personally, I find the commute to the new space in downtown Bellevue unappealing, I know the benefits at Microsoft are much better, and the constantly rotating senior management is pretty irritating.
