Pros

The benefits are impressive and promotion opportunities are there if you're willing to wait. There are not too many companies that offer full health and dental insurance to even the lowest level employees. The continuous assessment of performance can be either a positive or negative.

Cons

Stress. Promotions are based mostly on seniority. The hours required to actually meet standards far exceed a normal working week. Employee turnover is especially high if you work in the logistics department. Some of the employees seem to be barely conscious neanderthals or are super gung ho military types who get far too excited about getting a truck to Memphis on time.

Pros

Relaxed culture, work stays at the office. As long as you show up to work and don't mess up too badly you will get promoted when it is your "turn."

Cons

monotonous work, nothing exciting to do unless you are a VP. It does not really matter if you are hard working or talented, you will end up waiting in line behind other, less competent, employees simply because they have been working at FedEx longer. I was just an intern observing the office, but it seemed like a frustrating place to work.

Pros

If you want a balance between work and home life, FDX Express is a good choice. Usually very flexible with adjusting work schedule (with some notice -- a day or so) if you have time available. Usually very firm, but fair, with regard to discipline -- follow the procedures and you'll be fine.

Cons

The pay is not nearly as good as some others (primarily UPS). And like anyone in this business, sometimes you have to work weekends or overnight even with seniority.
