Pros

Generally good pay compared to comparable positions in similar companies. Can get lots of "hands-on" experience as managers are generally expected to play a role in their own HR, sourcing/hiring, engineering, purchasing/variable cost of operations, etc. Firm "promote from within" mentality that allows for developing your team for future promotions.

Cons

There are very few jobs that exist during "normal hours". Practically everything is going to be done late afternoon through late morning. Work is demanding and hours can be long. Training programs for new hires is weak, so be prepared to be a self-learner.
