Pros

Fidelity's benefits package is amazing, I don't know of a company that has better benefits. Every group I have worked in has an array of diverse, intelligent and super friendly people. I have made life long friends throughout my years at Fidelity. For a newly graduated college student, Fidelity is a great place to get your feet wet, to learn (their training programs are topnotch) and for an entry level position, the pay is very competitive.

Cons

I have been with Fidelity almost 12 years and made my way through a few different departments along the way. For the first few years, there really seemed to be a Fidelity culture, we were all proud to be working at such a great company with such integrity. But as the years wore on and I sat in a role where I felt doomed to stay because moving up beyond my current position at the time was not an easy feat, I did finally land that "destination role" position, the one I thought I would be with until I retired. Fast forward to today, currently two year in the "salaried" position and miserable. I am doing the work of three people because they won't back fill our department, we work some times 80 or more hours a week just to stay on top of what is put in front of us. The promised "big" raises, we were told was nixed from above. The morale is horrible. I have been sick more than I care to mention from the stress. I entered this role knowing very little about the position and there wasn't any training, I was handed 130 clients to start with and told, you'll figure it out. My laptop has never worked properly, mail doesn't go out or come in all the time, to name one of the many issues, no one knows how to fix it, nor will they replace it. I never thought I would say this about Fidelity, but I do feel like a number. I have talked to many of my co-workers in other groups who are feeling the same way, so it's not just the group I am in. Right now, until I can find (or have time to find) another job, it's just a paycheck, not a career.

Pros

Not a lot of pros here but the hours weren't bad I guess...

Cons

This is a call center environment. Pay is minimal and management has poor communication over all. Actually that's not true, they have NO communication over all. You are always being monitored. What I mean by this is that all the calls are listened to and graded, if you stop calls to go to the bathroom, it counts against you. If you don't take your break/lunch EXACTLY at the specified time, it counts against you. If you're stuck on a long call and you go past your break time, you're SOL. And it counts against you. The computers are so old and constantly freeze and crash on you, which gets increasingly frustrating everyday. You would think for a multi-million dollar company they could provide their minions with some semi-functional equipment in order to do their jobs efficiently. But I guess not. Fidelity also boasts about all the opportunities they have for their employees to branch out to, and frankly the opportunities are few and far between. They sell you the dream. And even if you are lucky enough to get a different position, you'll still be on the phone all day taking ~60+ calls per day. The job descriptions are very vague as to what you'll be doing. And the little information that is conveyed is very deceitful. No where was it ever made clear that this is a call center. Had I known this, I wouldn't even have applied. I did not go to college to work in a call center. PLEASE do not apply here!! Run far and fast! If you really want to work at a call center, find a different one. Do your future self a favor and DO NOT WORK HERE! You WILL regret it. You'll be thinking about this review while you are sitting at your desk and be thinking "why, why didn't I listen to this person!" This job was such a joke and a stain on my resume.
