Pros

Fortinet has a high-energy collaborative sales culture with sales leadership that really cares about their people and promotes from within. In my 20+ months here I’ve seen a half dozen sales reps, including myself, earn promotions, and it’s a work hard/play hard culture that offers a nice work/life balance. The technology is world-class and the company is investing in all the right places with a goal of becoming the #1 cyber security company worldwide.

Cons

Like most high-tech sales organizations, there have been some organizational changes, and even though they're the right changes positioning the company for continued long-term success, there is a short-term adjustment period for everyone involved.

Pros

Great salary, great benefits, generous RSU package. They are an excellent SMB (mid-market) product. They have low pricing so they win a lot of deals based on price.

Cons

Fortinet hires from a lot of tier 3 and 4 companies. Their product shows it. They excel at mid-market (branch office) deployments. They are not Enterprise ready and even further (3-5 years) from data center adoption. Unfortunately, "They" think they are there now. This means their sales goals and numbers are very unrealistic. They are a "family company" with many friends and family of the CEO at or near the top. They are extremely frugal. When they do spend money, they make poor decisions (see Meru acquisition). They want to be a security company, but their product portfolio would suggest they want to make everything under the sun at a cheaper price point. Essentially, they look more like a one stop shop for the mom and pop than they do a serious security player. As I stated earlier, they are cheap. You get what you pay for. This product belongs on the end-cap at bestbuy next to Netgear.

Pros

Reasonable products Many smart & dedicated employees

Cons

Fortinet has more than 3000 employees & yet is run like a small family business. Ken Xie is a smart guy but is extraordinarily paranoid after a poor experience w/ Netscreen. He has access to all company email, & for example, prohibits a central directory. Good luck finding anyone. The churn in the past 18 months has been extremely high at the C level, with people leaving or being forced out for what appear to be whimsical reasons.
