Thanks for the positive feedback. In terms of 1-2-1s, I am an Executive Director (I sit on one of the Management Boards for one of the countries), and I have 1-2-1s with my Direct Reports fortnightly... & with my ENTIRE TEAM on a 6-monthly basis (the also have 1-2-1s with their line managers on a 2-weekly basis). So, it does depend on what part of the business you are in... but can I suggest that 1-2-1s are "two way things" - if you want to have a 1-2-1 with your manager - just ask - I am sure they will accept!

Thanks for the feedback. I guess it depends which part of the business you join. Where I am (in one of the countries), we recruit in response to long-term business need - not just in response to projects - although you can imagine in a business that is growing as fast as we are, sometimes we do need to take on people at short-notice to meet customer needs. Where I am, we take on over 100 graduate entrants a year, and a similar number of Apprentices (i.e. school leavers) - these are intended to support our long-term growth. Career Management is a two-way street - if you rely solely on HR or your line manager, you won't get very far - you also have to take some responsibility for your career development... & those that do, do find a lot of doors opening for them, right across our business.
