Pros

The technology exposure is excellent, with the ability to have a healthy variety of work. Colleagues are fantastically smart and compensation is very competitive compared to similar companies in the industry.

Cons

The recent COVID-19 response has been poor, specifically the continued requirement causing the majority of staff to attend the office on a rota basis during Tier 4. While this is allowed due to technicalities it does not feel in the spirit of the guidance, nor appropriate for the situation in the country, when we are perfectly capable of carrying out our jobs in a WFH environment.

Pros

Lots of intelligent and like-minded colleagues - you're very unlikely to feel like the smartest person in the room which is refreshing. Salaries are competitive, decent available benefits and there is a "compensation" bonus scheme (albeit not a guarrantee.) Development and progression is encouraged and supported by management if you are willing to put the work in. Significant monetary incentives for successfully referring a friend for an open position. Events team genuinely do a fantastic job for morale/culture - especially in these trying times.

Cons

Intellectual property security systems & methods are too restrictive and must cost untold man-hours in lost productivity. IT seem to introduce new systems/processes too frequently (without proper testing or consultation with the relevant teams) which causes considerable downtime and significant outages on too regular a basis for a "technology driven" company. As per other reviews here, the Covid response has been an utter farce and just gets more comical (in a sad and pathetic way) as cases and infection rates go up in the UK. Senior management hide behind the office in the centre of London being "Covid secure" and claim desperately that without in-person "collaboration'' we will fail all the company's "roadmap items" for 2021, despite raving about how we have recorded record profits since working from home. Bear in mind, we all have laptops, IM, email, Webex, company phones in some cases... I think we can collaborate just fine without risking the health of ourselves or those we share a support bubble with. We are not a customer facing company, most employees can perform close to 100% of their roles from the safety of their homes and yet we are told yet again that return to office (RTO) is to continue as planned and if you're worried, just use the TFL website to check quiet times to travel... the audacity of it! Christmas might have been cancelled but not your mandatory 1 day a week back to the office during 50k+ cases a day and Tier 4 for most of the country(!) If all you care about is money and have a "live to work"attitude, this might be the place for you but make no mistake that the executive management haven't the slightest regard for you as a human being - to them, you are just another cog in the money making machine that is GR.
