      Pros

      Industry leader, Good training program if you can make it through, Pay is good if you make your numbers. Great contacts, great analyst community involvement.

      Cons

      Gartner is a great place to work for those without a lot of sales experience. Training is very good, but way too rigid ( "my way or the highway"). Blitz days are a pain in the rear. As a sales person I felt I was always looking behind my back for the "grim reaper"...it's a sense of being watched and tracked. Way too much management by metrics. It is a very hard place to relax and do your job.

      Pros

      - On the whole good people to work with - strong brand and brand loyalty

      Cons

      - pay not great in comparison to competition - chances of promotion slim due to way teams are structure (although within sales I understand this is different) - very sales focussed company, if you are not in sales you are overlooked - As soon as your face no longer fits they will find a way to push you out

      Pros

      It's a great job if you can get it. Fantastic colleagues, high-caliber conversations and a focus on doing good work. Great balance between written research, inquiries and conference presentations. You only travel as much as you want.

      Cons

      Pay is a bit low for the experience and caliber of people. A little too much emphasis on metrics and regimental career advancement (2 years in position before advancing).
