Paradox of Great People/Terrible Culture

Pros

Great people - lots of smart and hard-working people who really care about big ideas and doing the right thing.

Cons

Terrible culture - management's complete lack of understanding of human nature leads to a place where even top performers feel demoralized. The work gets joyless and thankless. Somehow 30+ days of PTO is supposed to make up for it all?

Pros

The pay is good (assuming you are are not a college grad and come into Gartner from the outside) if you begin at entry level and get promoted they pay you WAY less than outside hires. Luckily I am an outside hire. The training is above par and it has made me a better sales person. For better or worse when I finally get out of this place I will know I made a good amount of money and took sales skills with me. Gartner made me better at my job period.

Cons

Commission structure is confusing They don't practice what they preach They don't have a CRM! seriously what is going on here? If you don't "drink the koolaid" and continue to be an individual they won't like you as much and quite honestly will be threatened by you. Do not question authority or ask questions. They breed "yes mans" these college grads come to Gartner and are groomed to be gartners ideal employee... it's weird... but seriously it's very very strange and eerie They play favorites. Are you a yes man? Are you a brown noser? Are you 200% over quota already? Do you not question authority? Are drinking Gartner's Koolaid. GREAT! Here please take all the inbound leads and easy wins so that we can continue to make you successful and forget anyone else on the team. Ever heard of a round robin? Success is completely partly dependent on luck and mostly dependent on your vertical, territory, and if your managers and leaders like you. Don't be surprised if the most "successful" bds on your team eat up all your managers time. They are SO SUCCESSFUL that they can't even run a meeting alone. They are handheld through the entire sales process... which also includes spoonfed ready to buy inbound leads. If you think a company whos literal job is to gather research and advise other companies on how to make their organization better has it together... THINK AGAIN. It's all a lie. Shout out to the recruiters for being liar liar pants on fires.

Pros

-Benefits -Training -Growing one's skill set as a salesperson by selling a complex item that is difficult to quantify and is rarely budgeted for to C-level executives.

Cons

-Direct questions are answered dishonestly in the hiring process. -The team selling to HR executives is the only one that hits goals. -High attrition. -No CRM. -Micromanagement is the norm
