Pros

I have worked at several tech companies in the Bay Area throughout my career and I can honestly say that Glassdoor is a great place to work. The product and the people are incredible.

Cons

Salary is not as competitive as other similar size/revenue companies in the Bay Area

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and share more about your experience. We're glad to hear that you've encountered so many good people at Glassdoor. We strive to work together with integrity, respect and compassion for one another. And, we have fun together! Your feedback regarding salaries is an important one. Right now, we are working toward greater pay transparency across our company – first by publishing our internal compensation philosophy, and later releasing our company pay bands. Please continue to check back on our Glassdoor page to learn about additional steps we are taking.

Pros

In many ways, I feel very fortunate to work at Glassdoor. -Tremendous learning and growth opportunities. Glassdoor is really committed to developing its people and giving them increasing responsibility and seniority over time. -My colleagues are kind, smart, committed, thoughtful, and fun. I literally miss hanging out with them now that we're working remotely, which I know is not true of a lot of people at other companies. -The mission - people really want to do right by jobseekers and help them find a job and company they love. This is our driving force, no matter what rumors you hear about employers paying Glassdoor to delete reviews. That doesn't happen. We would never sacrifice our trust to jobseekers like that. -I have a lot of faith in our CEO and CPO. I believe they are doing their best to navigate a challenging economic climate, innovate, manage a complex integration process, and support our people. -A fun, collaborative culture. I work with many cross-functional teams and with few exceptions they are valuable partners, committed to achieving our shared goals. -Layoffs are always devastating, but I appreciate that Glassdoor put together a generous severance package including 3+ months pay, healthcare through the end of the year, etc.

Cons

-Covid has hurt our business, and we have dramatically changed our company strategy in response. I am tentatively hopeful that our new direction will be successful, but it feels like it might be a long slog to get to there. -Related, the recent pace of organizational change has been relentless. No matter how well-intentioned, it's created some uncertainty and reduced motivation. -Total compensation for PMs seems to be under market, especially now that LTIPs are worth so little. My friends in similar roles have 3-10x as much equity as I'm currently earning.

Pros

Transparency is taken to another level here. There's lots of room for career growth, and all the managers that I've worked with are always trying to help you grow. Since covid, Glassdoor was one of the first companies to mandate a work from home, and has been super supportive about flexibility and everyone's situation.

Cons

The team structure is constantly changing (which can be a good thing as well), so don't get used to your team, as it will probably change within the next year.

Thank you for taking the time to share about your experience with Glassdoor. There is no value more important to us than of Transparency. It is truly our guiding principle. We believe that, in order to push the boundaries of openness and honesty in the workplace, we should ourselves be continuously committed to learning, collaborating and making the right decisions. As you mention, the COVID-19 pandemic presented the opportunity to practice what we've always preached, so it was crucial for us to address safety measures with our employees as early as possible. We're enormously proud of our many teams for their quick work to support our employees remotely. If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything, it's the need to remain agile as a company. While we have taken many steps to communicate structural changes with as much notice to our employees as possible, we can certainly continue getting even sharper. In the coming months, we plan to be more focused than ever on collecting feedback from other employees and making sure our employees feel heard. While we will always remain welcome to change at Glassdoor, our hope is to ensure changes are accompanied with clear communication and employees understand how changes could impact them.
