      Downhill for Google since the layoffs

      Free food Good health insurance coverage, gym, therapy Decent salary Great co-workers, helpful team players

      Cons

      Too many toxic managers in such a place that has detailed and long interview process to filter through Layoffs were not handled well, ruined the motivation for the rest of the people while unreasonable targets are increased to put more pressure on sales people to be either burned out or put on PIP to quit without another round of layoffs with severance package

      Great teammates, still top notch perks and benefits even if some are being quietly sunset

      Cons

      Very large and bureaucratic, decision making takes forever and need sign offs from multiple teams with different goals/agendas. The culture has also dramatically shifted. With pressure to cut costs, middle management is using "performance" as a reason to get rid of people when performance is not the issue. This has led to toxic teams all around who will do anything to not be in the crosshairs next.

      Pros

      Google has many impactful products that require real innovation to work on, especially search. It's hard to think of how technology could improve more people's lives. Google also has deep pockets, which allows it to invest in cutting-edge technology, in particular LLMs. Google may not build the first version of , but you can bet it will invest enough money that it will catch up.

      Cons

      That dead look behind everyone's eyes. The hypocrisy in management, especially in its flimsy justifications of layoffs. The dead feeling inside yourself, and the viral despair from being surrounded by others who are equally unhappy.
