Pros

Insurance benefits are great, including a non-smoking discount making the plans very inexpensive. They handled COVID very well without any larger layoffs aside from possible facility changes. Charitable contribution matching and community days allowing you to donate time to local organizations.

Cons

PTO is stingy with most positions, even salaries, requiring you to use accrued PTO to cover corporate holidays, 7-8 days a year. When teams grow there isn't much of a plan to tackle growth aside from expecting more work from existing team members. Quarterly employee feedback is often never mentioned again, and in some cases brushed aside, like the unusual PTO policy. Unless you change role your max cost of living increase/raise is 3% with inflation being 7% which leads to constant turnover. A lot of the diversity and inclusion is lip service. Being Tennessee based they're silent on the hate based legislation taking place less than a mile from the corporate offices.

Pros

After working other nursing jobs, there is nothing that HCA excels in.

Cons

HCA fundamentally doesn’t care about their staff or patients, just the bottom line. They refuse to offer competitive pay, which has caused them to experience massive turnover to the point where it is extremely unsafe. I worked in the ER in a level 2 trauma center and often had 6 patients at a time and no possible way to handle a code if it came in. Even so, management refused to see the problem and made the staff feel guilty for raising concerns. HCA stock has doubled during the pandemic, yet we didn’t receive our yearly pay raise or hazard pay. This company is despicable.
