Pros

Good prospect and intl network. Depends on which business line/ function you are in. Risk and compliance are the hot areas

Cons

Slow promotion, you are not guaranteed a manager role upon graduation of the MA program, and the salary may be less than other intl banks

Pros

Great Management Associate program. Very organized, lots of rotation opportunities, and international exposure. The management gives a lot of practicing opportunities to the MAs, and MAs can quickly equip themselves with abundant knowledge in financial products and services. The benefit package is nice too. Work-life balance gets much better starting second year when you are more adapted.

Cons

As the bank is really a giant one, there can be some bureaucracy, esp in cross-functional situations.

Pros

It is good to work in HSBC because of its sizable operations. You would have lots of opportunities to be exposed to different functions and teams on a local, regional, as well as global level.

Cons

I would describe HSBC's culture as highly hierarchical and conservative. It does not encourage free flow of ideas and are not very open to new suggestions.
