Pros

Friendly team (bar useless Mentor) , excellent line manager, moderate shift flexibility, hybrid - can work from home a couple of days per week, occasional secondment opportunities.

Cons

Terrible Mentor assigned - no training given to Mentor. Ended up with a negative nelly who wouldn't show me how to make case updates in clunky systems, would not sit with me to review my queries and who sent snotty emails. Thrown into complex time critical Judicial Reviews after brief intro to them in initial training 6 months previously and assigned a critical and unhelpful mentor. Bizarrely clunky admin to deal with costs and requesting reconsiderations. Want to run a legal query as a novice past HEO sitting next to you? That'll require you to fill in a 3 page form in a strict window. Someone challenging a refusal to give them an entry visa composed of a 15 page legal letter with 150 supporting documents? You have a few hours to analyse it and produce a highly structured report and a decision letter that tackles every point.
