Pros

Had great comprehensive benefits Great, friendly staff (most were laid off due to covid) Great office in Mile-ex Remote opportunity

Cons

First, if you look at the 5-star reviews that have been surprisingly posted in the past 2 weeks one after another, you can understand how toxic this environment is. These recent positive reviews have been pretty much trying to falsify and antagonize the previous Hopper employees. If those former employees were that incompetent, why did the management wait until a global pandemic hits to let all go? That's where you need to be alerted and do your research more diligently. - There is a big disconnect between departments and unless you are in the high-level positions, don't expect to grow or wait for the leadership to look out for you. - Employees here are quite dispensable, and if you don't comply with the favoritism, you might be shown the door. - They gradually deflated the employee benefits under the name of budget cuts due to covid, but they keep announcing capital investments.

Pros

1. Competitive Salary and street creds, when you interview elsewhere. Everyone knows hopper and you get a lot of (undeserved, I may say) credit 2. It's a cool brand to throw out when you tell people in the bar that you work for the app 3. Some individual contributors, especially in the dev team, are star players - my guess is that they will be poached out, very soon.

Cons

1. Rampant nepotism and need to be in the 'In crowd' to climb the career ladder 2. Misallocation of power, it's not clear who is in charge. A colleague in Marketing department can someone start driving the Product Roadmap, and the Product person on the Operational side of things. 3. A lot of baby-sitting the management team, from middle manager 4. Just had our numbers out, and I don't know how we are going to make the numbers we are promising our investors. 5. Poor practices - teams like Product to Ops , really don't have solid management practices in place as most of the people in these teams are 'home grown'. I would say Dev and Eng in comparison, has their stuff put together (though just relative to the rest of the company). 6. Go work for other hotter startups instead - plenty in the area.

Work Hard, Make it Count

Pros

Hopper is the type of place where everyone is incredibly intelligent, and works incredibly hard, without exception. Coming to work everyday with people who are as dedicated as possible means that things get done. You know that with every project people have your back and will support you to get it done.

Cons

As with any company that has grown as quickly as Hopper in the last year, communication has been challenging at times, and it sometimes can feel as though there are divisions between departments forming that could change the culture over time. If working super hard and at times very long hours isn't your thing, this is not the place for you.
