Pros

Remote, home base and salary

Cons

While hopper presents itself as a large, reputable organization, my experience in Latam revealed a very different reality. They rely solely on legal minimum severance payments, showing zero empathy, and often use intimidation tactics to pressure employees into signing. Be cautious—don’t waste your time. In the end, they will fire you without even a word of thanks, treating you like a criminal as if you made the mistake, when in reality, their poor leadership is the reason why a great idea hasn’t taken off in 15 years. This is a dreamer company. They only use your contacts and reputation to build their image, but they are not what they claim to be. Do not trust them.

Pros

100% remote, features some of the most talented Scala engineers (who made contributions to the language), unlimited PTO, competitive base salary

Cons

No transparency whatsoever from top executives. Wave after wave of layoffs.

Work ethic, effort, seniority and knowledge can't save you from lay offs.

Pros

- Unlimited PTO. - 100% work from home. - Great example of how a company should NOT be run.

Cons

Nothing we haven't read before. - Lay offs every quarter, regardless of what you have offered to the company, the time you were employed and your knowledge. They 'd rather keep cheaper employees that have no idea what they're doing. - Reactive management. No sense of direction. You can spend a whole week working on a project that is supposedly super important and next week it's like it never existed and there's a new project needed YESTERDAY. - Stressful environment, mainly due to the factors above. You never know if you're next on the chopping block. - STO model does not work if you're keeping management or employees that do not have the skills, whether soft or technical, and they're just there to get an easy paycheck and run their team to the ground.
