Sadly, Huawei is a place that has no viable work culture for European or US people. Moreover, it openly favors Chinese managers and employees over other nations, in development, bonuses and simply in every aspect of work. Western people never can exercise any influence, never be trusted and never be equal to Chinese, no matter the knowledge, the performance or loyalty. Western people are simple tools to service Chinese, any Chinese actually. It is actually amazing that this totally unequal-opportunities employer is allowed to function legally in Europe. Information and communication is often Chinese first, sometimes in Chinese only. The work culture is averse to logical or advance planning, plans are never valid for long and no one cares. The company is highly-highly hierarchic, resents open discussions and change, bottom up innovation or proactivity is frown upon and not desired. Managers are 95% Chinese , and many of them are thrown into positions and markets they have zero knowledge about, as part of expat policy for Chinese at Huawei. In 2-3 years, By the time the manager actually understands and becomes more able to perform the job, he is made to leave for a next assignment. The mentality is military-oriented: do not think just execute anything on order. If there is no superior who gives an order, nothing happens, business can rot, no one cares. is lats-minute everything, and due to,this and due to lack of understanding customers and markets, actions are often desperate actions, hence stress levels are often high. The technology is exciting, the products can be often proud of and salary may be good for Westerners, but the daily irrationality, the fact to be just a tool,or best a tolerated 2nd rate employee, the lack of equal chance to grow as a person, the total lack of respect or appreciation by management goes against the heart and head of every decent Western person..., sooner or later you feel that your capabilities are fading, your soul and passion is being killed and ultimately, you end up frustrated and shrinking.
