Pros

Good name on CV, lots of talented peers to work with (at first). Good starting salary.

Cons

Too many middle managers who collect a wage for doing very little. Very difficult to move up the ladder. Little to no career progression. No training or development. Old fashioned practises towards working arrangements in terms of uniform, dress code and working from home. IBM con people in with a competitive grad salary then work them to the bone until they move elsewhere. The only way they employ mangers is through outside hiring, there is a lot of buddying between management so often the best candidates are overlooked for the managers pals. After 5 years you will only have had a 1-2% pay rise whilst your peers elsewhere will have progressed a lot further. If you are desperate for a blu-chip name on your CV then go for it but I would strongly suggest avoiding IBM. The company is going backwards.
