Pros

Good Pay, some flexibility... really depends if you work in Hardware or Software. Payscale is good compared to other companies at least in Austin

Cons

off shoring, complex management system. Likes to make everything single thing way too complicated. Management does not value employee loyalty and experience... if they don't need you, then you are out. management keeps changing often. Its hard to focus when you management keeps on re organizing every 4 - 6 months. By the time you get comfortable working with one manager, you have another manager and his style to adapt to. Employee morale is also low because of this.

Pros

Learning new technologies that are in development or are ready to hit the market.

Cons

If you want to get overworked, unpaid and under appreciated, this is the place you want to be. I have never seen management try to cut corners to save a buck than I have in the Systems and Technology Group. And not to mention the sheer incompetence of team leads not making an effort in order to distribute accurate and correct test plans in order to complete necessary projects on time. Once the project does reach it's completion date, there is no appreciation expressed for the hard work or overtime spent in order to meet project deadlines by management. It's off to the races to try and complete the next disaster of a project that you're assigned.

Pros

There are smart, technical, helpful, and hard-working engineers working on cool, challenging assignments. An open environment to try out new ideas and methods all in the name of getting the latest products out on time. Good team atmosphere. Good pcs and technology. Flexible with working from home.

Cons

At IBM, as in hardware companies in general, we are being asked to make more and more complex products with less and less resources/people (due to computers (vs. cars, milk, and most other products) becoming cheaper with each passing year). Technical leaders are not promoted as often or as high as managers, in most areas.
