Pros

Work from home if legacy employee Good healthcare

Cons

Your salary today will be your salary 5 years from now. Raises are about 1% a year. Bonus about 3%. Management has no interest in growing or advancing your career. They believe any off-shore or Dubuque person can do your job. Doesn't matter if it takes 3 of them to do it, as long as it is for less money. Management's priority is cutting costs at the lower and midlevel and maximizing profit for those at the top levels. As an employee you are only a means to their end.

Pros

Global presence, industry leader, numerous products and services, large community of brilliant people, focus on innovation, professional development resources, work life balance

Cons

Ambibuous, mislabled job titles that do not truly reflect the work you do. Blocked access to professional development. Very poor, ambiguous, informal performance rating system with no management accountability. What is a 2+. There is no real recourse to dispute a rating without making enemies up your chain. Open door is a sham with consequenses. Managers are forced to give sub-par ratings because there are only so many good ratings to give out; then they try to rationalize the illogical and are blindly backed up by senior management. By giving sub-par ratings, iBM reduces the percentages of raises, the amount of bonuses and ultimately promotions given to employees. Because of this, employees find themselves stuck for years. If you go to HR your career is over. The only way to progress at IBM is if you get a good manager that really likes you, will fight for you and allows you to take professional education and training courses.

Pros

Lots of varied clients to get experience. Good place to enhance process procedures

Cons

Offshoring and movement to lower cost centres. They have consultants working whose kpi are to move as many positions offshore as possible. Contractors have aosolutely no rights and can have contract terminated at any time. 2 weeks penalty if u leave before contract end. Morale is very low with people not being replaced when they leave presenting additional work to colleagues. Extreme money orientated
