Pros

none that I can think of. IBM has an attitude of wanting more for less. The ONLY people who matter are the shareholders, employees are treated badly and expected to give their total commitment to a company that will suck you dry and then throw you aweay when you cannot keep up with the pressures of the work. The ONLY good thing abuot the company is that the insurance package is good compared to some other companies, but even that is being whilttled away year by year. Equipment for actually doing the job is limited and of incinsistent quality, I even had to buy my own monitor as the company refused to allow one as thehy did not feel it was required for me to actually do productive work!!!

Cons

long hours, bad conditions, more work for less attitude from management

Pros

new hires get paid well

Cons

no education money, poor management, lack of communication between upper management and people who do the actual work No explanation of how to get ahead except to bill more hours to the client. I find that highly unethical and down right criminal if you are not really doing work. Capped project that only allow for 40 hours of billing and then at the end of the year - your performance is down rated because you did not bill at the expected rate. I put in 60 to 80 hours per week with no help from management - even when this was brought up on several occasions. My reviewer who never worked with me or saw my work - was allowed to berate my performance because of the 40 hours per week billing cap. This is discusting. There is no training except for "FREE" training which is basically "SALES" - so how are you supposed to keep "CURRENT" when you are not allowed to go to classes.

Pros

IBM is a recognized name in the IT industry

Cons

IBM preaches work from home and work life balance, but they don't practice what they preach. Management have a much easier time moving to other positions within IBM, than non-management staff. Very political place to work...IBM has been in a constant state of change over the last four plus years and very little of it has benefited the employee, from no longer offering a pension to revoking work from home privileges to all employees within the our division to not granting pay increases for even some of their top performers for two years running now. Overall a huge surprise to someone who grew up in the Big Blue family.
