Pros

- Good work/life balance (of course depending on your organization and role) - Good people - Good vacation

Cons

- Pay is below competitors - Benefits are no longer competitive (there is no longer any 401k match, health care costs for a family of 5 ends up being around $12,000-$14,000 per year out of pocket, no other significant 'benefits') - Management told to rate people arbitrarily as low performers based on how many people need to be fired - Constant fear of resource actions, performance improvement plans, changes to benefits, increased workloads, random major changes to process without input from stakeholders. Everything is pushing towards decreased productivity and market competitiveness - Senior leadership is not good and has been frequently violating our own business conduct guidelines in recent all-hands meetings

Pros

I guess you may think working for IBM may be good for your CV? Just don't overdo it.

Cons

I wouldn't know where to start. In Consulting at least: risk averse culture, too many people wanting to coast into the sunset (retirement), too much overhead (rates too expensive), relentless pressure for billable utilisation with no focus on selling, no performance incentives, dry pipelines. From what I'm, hearing IBM Technology/SWG are doing better, but you never know, grass isn't always greener.

Pros

Amazing tech and exciting projects to work on. Knowledgeable technical people An answer to almost any client problem

Cons

Senior leaders say they care about things like mental health, ethnic and neuro-diversity and sustainability. They have the programmes and the awareness campaigns, but it’s mostly a tick box exercise. The leaders still run the business like it would have been in the 90’s. Make sure you’ve interviewed them as much they are interviewing you. There are leaders in the business that are genuine and want to make a difference, but they’re not senior enough to have a fundamental impact on the leadership style and culture.
