Pros

IBM in East Lansing provides a great flexible schedule. Individuals are able to work from home on Monday and Tueaday of each week if they live at least 45 miles away.

Cons

The biggest problem with this center is the poor pay. There is no reason why a company as big as IBM should be paying their employees 20K less than the state average for the same position.

Pros

The company encourages us to upgrade and keep our skills current through various means. Forty hours per year are mandated. The latest incentive is free unlimited access to Safari Books Online.

Cons

Promotions are very uneven, but then so are layoffs. Sometimes entire areas (advertised as strategic just days earlier) are cut and "resource-actioned" with no explanation, and everyone else is supposed to just carry on as though nothing happened. When this sort of thing occurs annually, it undermines one's confidence in local or senior leadership and erodes morale, no matter how positive one is determined to be.
