      Pros

      The customers do appreciate the extra effort you put into helping them. Some of my customers and colleagues have turned into lifelong friends.

      Cons

      Myself and several other US located colleagues on our team got their jobs moved to either Ottawa, Canada or Eastern Europe. This was done to save IBM even more money, not due to lack of profitability in our department. One Third of IBM employees are in India or Bangladesh. This isn't an accident.

      - Lots of very nice and talented people work there

      Cons

      - Layoffs (Resource Actions) are pretty much happening constantly and the jobs outsourced to cheaper markets in India, etc., meaning you are always wondering if you are next to be let go - No rhyme or reason for who gets laid off, but older workers seem to be the main focus - Even with good annual reviews, never had a raise in over 10 years - Recently rescinded the work from home / remote work policy, and now everyone has to work from an office - Required to use IBM tools (ie. Lotus Notes for email), which are usually not industry standard, and makes it difficult to sell your skills to other companies
