As soon as I came back working part time from maternity leave (used to be full time prior to maternity leave) the company made me redundant and gave the minimum statutory redundancy which was 1 week for every year I had been there. I had been there almost 10 years. Previous years redundancy packages were a lot more generous but the company has become more and more ruthless towards staff over the years I was there. Great company at the start but towards the end just another corporate monster placing undue pressure on employees squeezing the life out of them for little reward. Replacing UK staff with cheaper Indian staff and The Indian staff were treated even more poorly, very hierarchical and expectations to work unsociable hours (out of contract hours) as a norm with no compensation and told not to submit those hours on the timesheets, just pretend to work standard hours. All in all, you get worked to death and if you are part time and a mother, you’ll be made redundant.
