      Great if you just want to get by in a job, not great if you want to shine and be appreciated.

      Pros

      Large company with a lot of opportunities to move around if they aren't downsizing. They also have a lot of opporutnities for continued education if you take advantage of it.

      Cons

      Too big, they don't seem to notice who does what, when. Managers don't spend enough time managing down to their team, which is their best asset. It is hard to get noticed for doing anything significant and you can be moved around a lot without being asked for input. Once you learned where you where, they reorganized and moved you.

      Pros

      IBM is a company that is very focused on the contribution of the individual to a team goal. The company has woven in work life integration into its culture and provides an environment where the most intelligent people can comfortably perform and are routinely recognized. There several career paths for one to pursue and opportunities for growth. IBM is one of the great companies to work for in North America.

      Cons

      IBM does have many processes. There are protocols in place that can be stifling and like with any large companies there can be obstacles both large and small and leaders both new and old who struggle to put the customer first. Proactive career management is the responsibility of the individual for the most part and the company is currently experiencing some restructuring.
