      Pros

      If you don't mind moving around the world, there are opportunities for advancement.

      Cons

      Layoffs. Pay cuts. Lack benefits/cost. Lack of tuition reimbursement (they have a program, but you won't be eligible. Their enrollment form even says most people won't get it and to not talk about it to others because most won't get it). POOR management (lack on knowledge, lack interfacing, lack of career growth). These aren't just my opinions, these are facts that have happened to me personally.

      Never take a job at IBM unless you are in desperate need of a job.

      Pros

      None at all, in fact the only reason why I took the job was the "wow" factor (back then) associated with the IBM name

      Cons

      - Poor work life balance - Incompetent management from the top down to the bottom - New hires were left to sink or swim - Training for new hires is practically non-existent - Pay is so bad, that your salary would be outpaced by your peers at other companies in just 2-3 years. - Employee benefits were among the worse around. - Taking leave was extremely frowned upon, and people were encouraged to take their laptop with them and check emails on the road. - You are supposed to be "on call" even though you aren't paid for it, on a 24-7 basis.

      Pros

      As with most large companies after sucking your soul and destroying your will to do good work it can be easy to game the system and get a pay cheque for relativly little productivity. Good health and dental

      Cons

      Lack of professional development support. Constantly changing company direction and poorly implemented stratagies. Lack of education and growth opportunities.
