Pros

A company motivated by innovation and research-the crimeajewel in the crown of any high tech company in the information age.As we move to NGN fibre networks all over the US and Europe, and download speeds of 100mbs become the norm for everyone, and all tech devices become ip enabled,(with the ability to communicate with each other-even though manafactured differently by different companies with different designs),the pace of the information age and the demands on people in both their work and home life will increase dramaticly. In this world of instant information and feedback, innovation and speed to market in a compeditive enviroment will be key to corporations and SME's winning out.

Cons

Long hours.Too many meetings. Not enough promotion prospects.

Pros

The brand is loud and clear. IBM Global Services is a big family. There are all kinds of jobs and people here. People can have many opportunities in this company. It also provides many kinds of professional and non-professional (hard/soft skill) training.

Cons

1. For an IT specialist, performance is not very important. Overall compensation and benefits is OK for an employee. But, no attractive compensation or bouns for good performance an IT specialist. 2. Many burden and overhead in daily operation. It causes low productivity. 3. Heavy workload. Work, Life balance sounds like a joke recently. It impacts the employee moral. 4. Few and few professional training opportunities.

Pros

Work hours are flexible as long as you can get your work done. The managment understands life and work balance. There are oppurtunities for advancement and that needs you to intiate the process with upper managment. You're encourged to take on site course whenever it's available. If you're lucky you might get your own office but sometimes you might need to share an office with another collegue. There are no cubicle at the SVL location.

Cons

IBM might not work for young professional because there is not a real energetic culture there and no free food there. I thought there would be finanial aid with tuiation help for training course at an educational instituation but I thought the process was diffifcult becuase it needed to a few level up management for approval. Sometimes you're expected to work long hours to get your work done.
