      a large company but no invention, no place for creative people and consultants has to administer and not to consult

      Pros

      - IBM has importent history in IT development - company has a lot of employees - good advertisement in media

      Cons

      - unprofessional working and administration framework for consulting company - no orientation for customer satifsfaction - consultants has no time for customers, they waste a lot of time for internal administration - roughly project execution - unprofessional continuing education - low cost policy at all - has a lot of low cost emploees that have no knowledge and is in projects not employable

      Pros

      IBM Software Grouo is active in many areas of technology, so there are always interesting projects to work on. I have also discovered that it is very possible to have a great deal of freedom within IBM, provided one can demonstrate the value of what you are doing.

      Cons

      During the Gerstner years, there seemed to be less focus on process, audits, etc. That, sadly, has been returning lately. Also, givne the current (jan 2009) economic woes, there is a fair bit of apprehension among employees--however, I suspect that is true of almost all companies and all employees these days 8-(.
