      Pros

      Diverse environment providing many opportunities if you can tap into the right resources and develop your own internal network

      Cons

      Endless travel with no concern or support to balancing work / home life. Travel time comes out of your time as with the execessive amount of administration and practice support that is required.

      Pros

      Very flexible with work at home options. Opportunities to work with the best in the industry. Excellent on line/virtual classroom professional courses available for all employees. I've had excellent growth experiences working on smaller start up projects which have provided invaluable experience.

      Cons

      Too much red tape hinders decision making. Too many middle managers who do not understand software development or developers. It is very difficult for non-technical employees to get good raises or promotions. There is no identifiable corporate culture in the software group and people are given assignments rather than put into growth or career positions for the larger projects. Senior management determines schedules and scope and does not understand appropriate project management methodology which leads to lots of weekend work to accommodate already compressed schedules.

      Pros

      Good employee benefits with flexible working. I don't know of any other employer that would allows the same level of responsibility in terms of organising working hours and location.

      Cons

      Internal processes are cumbersome and frustrating. Hours are long and the culture is increasingly one of working 7 days a week. Pay reviews are poor, the pot for an annual increase is reduced every year. The salary benchmarking is a farse, with roles being measured against incorrect external criteria resulting in lower pay than contempories in other businesses.
