Pros

Flexible ways of working, plenty of opportunities, an organisation that acts with integrity, allows more to learn about IBM, people respect each other,

Cons

Slow and cumbersome at times, governed by its processes where it is difficult to handle exceptions. Tendency to pigeon hole people into narrow roles despite having multiple skills Takes some time to understand how IBM works and the matrix organisation

Pros

Very progressive in terms of flexible working options including working from home. Large number of business areas provide, at least in theory, a wide variety of career development options without changing employer. IBM is a recognised company name throughout the industry which can help in your professional work (in terms of opening doors, getting appointments etc) and also is a name people of heard of outside the industry.

Cons

IBM no longer seems to treat its people well, at least in the UK. Employee benefits have been incrementally reduced with every turn and annual 'update', leading to a very cynical workforce (in terms of 'the company' and its anticipated next steps) which does nothing for morale or productivity. Many long-serving IBM employees continue to be motivated by their pride in doing a good job (for the company, their colleagues, themselves) and wanting to support their colleagues, however overall satisfaction with IBM management is undoubtedly at an all time low.

Pros

Great for someone that wants to get their foot in the door at a young age and possibly embark on a career path. Being one of the largest technologies company in the world means good benefits, ample vacation time, and if you choose to ever leave, IBM looks great on a resume.

Cons

It's not really a downside of working at IBM in particular, but corporate America in general. All large corporations tend to micromanage and plan for future contracts poorly, letting the lower rungs of support staff deal with the problems created due to poor planning and incompetent project managers, etc.
