Pros

Work/life balance at IBM is better than most other top-tier IT companies. There are several good projects within IBM for those who are motivated to seek them out, but the company is not dynamic and bleeding-edge enough to provide great experience to all its engineers.

Cons

Being a large corporation with a smaller footprint in the most cutting edge technologies, I believe it is difficult to demonstrate innovative solutions without being hindered by service work and other duties. It is easy to get stuck in a rut where you are not learning universally applicable skills.
