Pros

Decent salary and benefits compared to other available jobs in the area are the only reasons I can think of that might justify working at IBM nowadays.

Cons

IBM has lost all respect for it's employees. After working there for almost 36 years and always getting reviews ranging from "always far exceeds requirements" to "always exceeds requirements" I was suddenly told I was underperforming and was let go! It just so happens that there were 3 of us doing the job and I was the one with the most years (translation "highest paid"). It's just all about the bottom line now- no more concern for the employees at all!

Pros

My area in AIM (middleware) offers some Interesting work assignments and special projects. I also get to interact with higher bands than peers in the same job family and band.

Cons

Unfortunately, there are too many project managers which confuses issues and prevents superior development from occurring. However, releases are still high quality and always release on-time.
