Pros

IBM has a lot of the pros of a big company. Good benefits, flexible working times and lots of great employees to work with. There are lots of opportunities to move around and grow your career in IBM as well!

Cons

The primary con was the long working hours. It was up to you how to manage them, but be aware of that going in. Also, now at IBM is their relatively new policy on layoffs, where all employees regardless of seniority get only one month's severance when the benefit for severance used to be much better for experienced employees.

Pros

One of the best reasons to work with IBM is the vast amount of learning you are exposed to. There are so many free learning that you can use to develop your career. Apart from that, there is a good work culture.

Cons

The below are based on my experience and my review is not on behalf of others. 1) Less salary hikes 2)Promotion is dependent on management and ending up doing highly responsible roles without proper promotion. 3) Promotion happens only in the name and not on salary. 4)I am stuck in the same lower band for the past 5 years and still no word from the management about promotions. Mind that I have moved up the ladder 2 times and doing a role with higher responsibility, but still in the same Band from last 5years. 5) You will never meet the HR. It is always through your manager. If you want to meet the HR, then manager will consider as escalation and it wouln't be a good Idea. In this all 6 years, I have never met an HR who has actually asked about the problems or issues. 6) Salry less than the market rates. 7)Your life here solely depends on your good relation with your manager.
